'Long-term peace based on Russia's interests': Putin and Xi Jinping hold video call
On January 21, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a video call, during which the Kremlin leader stated that the goal of "Ukrainian settlement" should be "long-term peace based on Russia's interests"

According to Interfax and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his desire to work with Putin in 2025 to deepen relations between the countries and "defend international justice." Meanwhile, Putin stated that Russian-Chinese cooperation is "in the interests of both peoples."
According to Kremlin aide Ushakov, the Russian leader also told Xi Jinping about the "Ukrainian settlement".
"As for the Ukrainian settlement itself, as the president emphasized recently, and as he said today: the goal of the settlement should not be a short-term ceasefire, not a mere break, but long-term peace based on respect for our objective interests," Ushakov quoted Putin's words.
