Russians end up surrounded: Ukrainian serviceman denies Russian propaganda on Kursk fighting
Military serviceman Kyrylo Sazonov reports that in recent days, the Russian forces have intensified efforts in the Kursk region, trying to quickly push Ukrainian forces out of the area
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
“The last two days have been very difficult in the Kursk region. The Russian troops are trying to break through. My guys and I believe they have a time frame of the new year or by the end of January to push the Ukrainian Defense Forces out of the Kursk region and into the Sumy region. So far, they have not succeeded. They are throwing their best units there to fulfill the Kremlin's tasks, including paratroopers and marines. Our 41st Separate Mechanized Brigade holds positions near Sudzha and the road to Zelenyi Hai. The 810th Marine Brigade is working against us. It is to them that the North Korean soldiers were thrown,” said Sazonov.
According to the serviceman, the fighting in the Kursk region is very dynamic. Despite the Russian attempts to push the Ukrainian Defense Forces out of the Kursk region as quickly as possible, Ukrainian units have not lost any positions.
“The day before yesterday in the morning, large-scale airborne assaults on Ukrainian positions began. Ukrainian artillery destroyed two Russian armored personnel carriers before their troops could even get off the vehicles. In the late afternoon, our Bradley was working on the road. Then the guys from the Special Forces destroyed three more Russian infantry fighting vehicles. Over the last day, 10 armored personnel carriers were destroyed in our sector alone, and it is not known how many Russian personnel were destroyed. Our UAV operators are also very active. We have not lost any positions here. Although there are no positions here as such, the fighting continues for certain areas. That is, very dynamic fighting. Interestingly, the infantry is fighting the enemy, while we are covering them with mortars. That is, we are not the first line, but the Russians are coming behind us, not as assault aircraft, but as diggers. They received information that we had already been knocked out of our positions, and they are coming to our rear and setting up their own positions. And when they say that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are surrounded in the Kursk region, I find it frankly ridiculous. Because we are surrounded here three times a day, and then surround the Russians three times during the day,” he added.
