Russian forces intensify Kursk region assaults with strikes from within borders
Russian forces drop up to 40 guided bombs a day on areas controlled by Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region
Vadym Mysnyk, a spokesman for the Siversk troops grouping, said this during the United News telethon.
"Russian offensive assault operations continue relentlessly. The intensity of bombings here is quite high, and in addition, Russia is concentrating troops and equipment in this area. Their internal transportation infrastructure allows them to move and reinforce their units, which the Ukrainian Defense Forces are effectively targeting. They are also launching airstrikes from deep within their own territory. We're documenting all of this," he said.
Russian troops are using the same tactics they employ in the Donetsk region and southern Ukraine, specifically destroying their own settlements, targeting local civilians and homes, and carrying out 'meat-grinder' assaults.
In response, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are deploying a strategy of active defense, marked by maneuverability, enabling them to use the full range of available weaponry. The spokesperson emphasized that, given the natural terrain, Ukrainian forces are inflicting maximum losses on enemy forces.
Regarding a new wave of attacks, Mysnyk noted, "This is another wave. They increase or decrease their assaults from various directions. Now they've gathered their forces and are making another attempt. The Russian army does this constantly. When we destroy their equipment and combat vehicles, they continue their assaults in small infantry groups, which are then finished off by our drones and FPV drones. But they don’t stop their assaults."
He added that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are in control of the situation and inflicting maximum damage on the Russian army.
When asked if Russian military leadership has set a deadline to push the Ukrainian Defense Forces out of the Kursk region, Mysnyk responded that this is a political issue: "It’s mostly a political matter. We understand that U.S. election results also have an impact, as Russia seeks to show some results within a certain time frame. The Defense Forces’ mission, along with our units, is to destroy the enemy as much as possible. Only through these actions can we make an impact. We hold the initiative here, backed by our experience and strength.”
