Russian flamethrower systems pose greatest threat to Chasiv Yar - Ukraine's 24th Brigade
Ivan Petrychak, a spokesman for the 24th King Danylo Brigade's press service, says the Russian army continues to destroy Chasiv Yar, attacking it with guided bombs, cannon artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems
He reported the information on Espreso TV on July 6.
"Since the Ukrainian Defense Forces withdrew to positions along the canal at the start of this operation, the number of Russian artillery attacks has decreased, resulting in a relative calm. However, this doesn't mean the situation in Chasiv Yar has eased.
There are ongoing skirmishes with small arms, artillery exchanges, and counter-battery firefights. Russia continues to damage the settlement. Russian guided aerial bombs and cannon artillery are targeting the city of Chasiv Yar. Particularly destructive are Russian flamethrower systems, which strike at night and cause significant damage to buildings. The shelling persists, keeping the situation tense," noted Ivan Petrychak.
According to him, evacuation and logistics remained operational throughout, facilitating the supply of ammunition and transportation of the wounded.
"In the days leading up to the Defense Forces' withdrawal from that devastated part of the city, we attempted to document the situation to illustrate to the public and society at large why it was crucial to evacuate. Maintaining control of the territory was challenging because the Russian forces systematically destroyed everything - homes and positions - often leaving them in ruins. The final evacuation occurred on July 5, and we captured footage of it, which we will soon release on the brigade's YouTube page for everyone to see," summarized Ivan Petrychak.
