Lukashenko serves two masters – analyst Denysenko
Vadym Denysenko, executive director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future think tank, believes that Lukashenko needs both Putin and Xi Jinping, so he will continue to balance between them
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Lukashenko is a servant of two masters, Putin and Xi Jinping. And the peace plan that Lukashenko can talk about is a variant of Xi Jinping's peace plan for Ukraine. In my opinion, during their meeting on April 6, Putin and Lukashenko could talk about some configurations of the Chinese peace plan, as well as how Belarus can play these games and try to influence the peace process, which will depend on Beijing's diplomatic capabilities on the one hand, and on the other hand, on what Putin will agree or not agree to," said the executive director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future.
Vadym Denysenko noted that Xi Jinping cannot meet with Putin every day, and he has Lukashenko for this purpose, through whom certain messages can be transmitted.
"Lukashenko needs both Putin and Xi Jinping, so he will continue to play the servant of two masters, because without Russian oil he will not be able to do anything. In addition, the Belarusian economy is tied to Russia, and Russians can easily pull the switch. Accordingly, Lukashenko needs to balance between the two," Denysenko summarized.
