Lukashenko considers me personal enemy – Belarusian opposition leader Latushko
Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko announced that he has hostages and wants to exchange them for Belarusian nationals
This was stated on Espreso by the deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus and the head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushko.
Pavel Latushko responded to the proposition of Belarusian dictator Lukashenko to exchange Polish journalist Andrzej Poczobut for him and members of his administration.
"Essentially, Lukashenko has announced to the entire world that he has hostages and wants to exchange them for Belarusian citizens. This is a violation of international law norms. He is willing to trade and exchange me and the members of my team in the Anti-Crisis Administration," said Latushko.
The opposition member added that the members responded to Lukashenko's public statement and came to a decision.
"Fourteen members unanimously voted that we are willing to exchange ourselves, but only under specific conditions. These conditions involve the release of all political prisoners in Belarus. Lukashenko cannot forgive the fact that I, as a former minister and ambassador, defected to the people's side. He considers it a personal insult and humiliation, making him view me as a personal enemy. I face constant threats of murder, kidnapping, and physical violence, in addition to fake insinuations. They aim to demotivate us. I have been sentenced in absentia to 18 years in prison, but I will not change my stance. I will continue to fight against this regime for the freedom and democracy of Belarus," he concluded.
