Kremlin reacts to Erdoğan's accusations of non-compliance with Syria agreements
The Russian leader's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov shares his hopes that the differences between Russia and Turkey over Syria will be resolved through negotiations.
This is reported by the Russian media.
In response to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's November 21 statement that the Russian Federation is not fulfilling the agreements reached in Sochi in 2019, Dmitry Peskov admitted that there are differences between Moscow and Ankara on this issue.
“Regarding Syria, there are disagreements with Turkey. Once they were expanded in Sochi, and a document was signed, which was read by the two ministers. After that, we heard Erdoğan's statement, and there were also statements from our representatives who said that we are also not satisfied with how Turkey fulfills its obligations,” Peskov said.
At the same time, he expressed hope that Turkey and Russia will be able to avoid confrontation in Syria.
“But there is another wonderful story with Turkey - the level of our relations and political wisdom allow us to settle such differences not through confrontation, but through tense, albeit long and tense, but still negotiations,” Peskov noted.
