This is reported by CNN US publication, citing a senior representative of the Ministry of Defense.
The interlocutor of CNN notes that Patriot systems will be critical in protecting Ukraine from the cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as aircraft, and will allow hitting targets at a great distance.
The Patriot is not a "silver bullet" but just one element of the air defense provided by the United States and other allies, the source told CNN:
"Our goal is to help Ukraine strengthen a layered integrated approach to air defense. Patriot will complement a range of medium and short-range capabilities that we’ve provided and that allies have provided in prior donation packages," the Pentagon official said.

On December 21, the US announced a new $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine and an additional $850 million in aid. The aid package includes the Patriot air defense system.
