"India benefits from suffering of Ukrainians” – Kuleba calls on New Delhi to expand support for Ukraine
Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs said India was able to buy cheap Russian oil at the cost of Ukrainians’ suffering from Russian aggression
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with NDTV.
"Why did India significantly increase the purchase of Russian oil? Because Russia offered very tempting conditions, cheap prices, good contracts. Why is Russia offering cheap prices for its oil? Because of the war it launched in Ukraine. And the problem is the supply of oil in the European markets," the minister said.
Without this, according to him, the opportunity for India to buy Russian oil at a cheap price arises because Ukrainians suffer from Russian aggression.
"And this fact we hope should be appreciated by those who make decisions on purchasing Russian oil," Kuleba explained.
He also added that Ukraine, however, is critical of any country in the world, be it in Europe, Asia, or anywhere else, which buys Russian oil in large quantities, because Russia uses this money to finance the war and killing of Ukrainians.
The head of the Foreign Ministry also emphasized that it is not enough to point the finger at the European Union and say that they are doing the same, because the main reason for the opportunity to save oil for India was not what the EU buys from it, it's the fact that Ukrainians are suffering from the Russian war and dying because of it.
"If you integrate this element into your thinking, of course then your foreign policy has to be adjusted accordingly towards the support extended to Ukraine. If you benefit because of our suffering, it would be good to see more of your help addressed to us," he emphasized.
