"I haven't seen bullet wounds in our soldiers for a long time, almost all of them are from projectiles," - Ukrainian combat medic
Until February 24, a medic with the 80th Detatched Airborne Assault Unit worked as a surgeon in Lviv. Now he takes from 10 to 15 wounded people a day from the frontline.
This is stated on the Facebook page of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - Espreso.West reports.
"It happens that during the day we take from 10 to 15 servicemen from the front line. You stand at the evacuation point and every minute they can bring you a wounded person. You are in constant uncertainty, what will it be - chest, stomach, head; you are constantly on adrenaline. In the first phase of the war, we often had bullet wounds, close combat with machine guns and assault rifles. Now I haven't seen bullet wounds for a long time. Almost all of them are from artillery shells, multiple rocket launchers and the like," - a medic of the brigade says.
Before the war, he worked as a surgeon in Lviv. After the full-scale invasion of Russia, he sent his family abroad, and he himself went to the Military Commissariat. According to him, the evacuation from the front line is in two stages.
"Combat medics are brought from "zero". Those who work for the battalion, others stand in the second line, at the evacuation point. They take the wounded, stabilize them, provide primary surgical aid and evacuate them to the hospital. The medics' cars are riddled with bullets and shrapnel. They are tired, but confident in themselves," - he adds.
He emphasizes that the survival of the military depends primarily on the speed of evacuation. But before that, the fighter or his comrade must be able to provide first aid.
"The most common injury to our soldiers is aquabarotrauma (contusion) - when a mine or projectile flies next to a soldier. 90 percent of all soldiers are affected by the blast wave. In case of concussions, there is nothing to help. The only thing is when you hear "arrival" you need to hide in a dugout or a trench in time," - the doctor notes.
