Hunting for HIMARS, drones: expert describes latest Russian radar system neutralized in Kherson region
This is one of the Russian military industrial complex's latest developments - the 48Y6-K1 Podlet-K1 radio-location station, put into service in 2015.
Aviation expert Vitaly Trubnikov shared the story.
"Today (July 19 - Ed.) photos of a very interesting Russian radar appeared, which burned down in the village of Lazurne, Kherson region, at one of the unfinished recreation bases. This is one of the newest developments of the Russian military industry - the 48Y6-K1 radar Podlet- K1. It was put into service in 2015. It is a universal mobile three-coordinate radar station with a phased antenna array of a circular view for the detection of air targets at low and extremely low altitudes in conditions of complex obstacles," the specialist explained.
It can serve as a target indicator for the S-400 and Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft systems.
"Among its stated advantages, it detects targets at a distance of up to 200 km and at an altitude of up to 10 km, including UAVs and cruise missiles. The location of this radar exactly on the line between Mykolaiv and Sevastopol may indicate that it was put there to hunt long-range missiles for HIMARS and M270. However, two days ago, according to the locals, 2 missiles landed at this Chaika base and everything burned there: ammunition, headquarters, barracks of the occupiers and the latest Podlet-K1 radar," Trubnikov added.
Other photos show that the control machine and the generator machine for powering the entire system were destroyed.
