Historically, president's party lose, but I believe in Biden's ability to negotiate with Republicans - politician Rashkin
Yuri Rashkin, a political and public figure in US, expressed hope that the upper chamber of the US Congress, the Senate, will remain with the Democrats, and the lower house will most likely be with the Republicans
He told about this on Espreso TV.
"In the United States, every election is called the most important, but the elections today are incredibly important. We really stand on the guard of democracy, so it's hard to predict what will happen in the elections. Historically, the Democrats have to lose in the midterms, because the president's party always loses. But there is an interesting point here that the Democrats are holding on to the president and are not running away from him and his position, but on the contrary, they are asking for Biden's visit and support," the politician noted.
Yuri Rashkin noted that despite the low support, less than 50%, Democrats believe that Biden can help them.
"The president has less support now, but on the other hand, I believe in Biden's ability to find common ground and negotiate even with Republicans. We see how much he has achieved in the previous two years, and I would not be surprised if Biden achieves in the next two years which we don't even expect today, regardless of who controls the lower or upper chamber of the Congress. Let's hope that the upper house, the Senate, remains with the Democrats. As for the lower house, the Republicans have carved up their districts so much that Democrats have practically no chance," Rashkin commented.
