Greece refuses to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that his country will not supply Ukraine with Leopard tanks because it allegedly needs them itself
This was reported by Bild.
Mitsotakis explained the refusal to supply tanks to Kyiv by tense relations with Turkey, which have now become even more acute due to a long-standing dispute over the sovereign rights of territories in the Aegean Sea.
"We cannot provide Leopard 2 tanks for the simple reason that they are absolutely essential to our own defence strategy," Mitsotakis said during his working visit to Japan.
At the same time, the media notes that Greece has a fairly powerful arsenal of Leopard tanks, namely about 350 Leopard 2 and 500 Leopard 1 vehicles.

On January 26, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced her readiness to supply tanks to Ukraine, but emphasised the need to re-equip them. According to media reports, there are 53 tanks at the base in Zaragoza.
