"Give up Russian fuel": US Energy Department announces record oil production next year
US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm has said that from 2023, the US expects to achieve record oil production levels.
This was reported by the Minister of Energy Jennifer Granholm, writes Voice of America.
According to US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, the US will produce a record amount of oil starting next year.
"It's about demand and supply. When Russia invaded Ukraine, global markets lost millions of barrels. Because oil is traded globally, we have to make up for that lost amount of fuel," she said.
According to Voice of America, by 2023, the United States will produce 12.7 million barrels of oil per day, now this figure is 12 million per day.
"President Biden's decision to release a million barrels per day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Fund and his calls for the oil sector to increase production are key to lower fuel prices," added Granholm.
The day before, the minister talked about the need to increase production against the background of under-exporting oil from Russia and the need to transition to clean energy sources in an interview with the Voice of America.
"Unfortunately, you see fuel prices in Europe skyrocketing. Obviously, because of the invasion, Russia under-exported millions of barrels of oil, in addition to natural gas. So prices around the world have gone up. Now our president and others have called for increased production directly now so that we can lower gas prices for consumers. And the president is certainly concerned about how that will affect real people and inflation and so on. But ultimately we have to move to clean energy. And that's what the bill that he signed the other day president for the United States," the minister said in an interview with Voice of America.
Granholm also noted that the US and Europe are united in the understanding that they should completely abandon Russian fuel.
