General Nayev names number of Russian troops on Ukraine’s northern border
Russia has concentrated a group of 19,000 troops near the Ukrainian northern border. They are shelling the border and conducting reconnaissance
Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, commander of the Operational Command North, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to him, Russia has deployed a group of troops totaling about 19 thousand people, armed with tanks, armored combat vehicles, artillery and missile systems, air defense systems and tactical missile systems.
"Russia continues open armed aggression against Ukraine from the territories of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions. The Russian units are conducting reconnaissance, shelling the border areas, using aviation and kamikaze UAVs, and launching ballistic and cruise missile strikes. In addition to military facilities, Russia is trying to destroy energy, transport and industrial infrastructure, launching cynical strikes on residential areas, medical and educational institutions, shopping centers, and warehouses with humanitarian cargo," Nayev said.
At the same time, there are currently no signs of the formation of Russian strike groups that could launch an offensive to the north. The Armed Forces continue to monitor the situation.
