First batch of American Switchblade drones may arrive in Ukraine this month - Reznikov
First batch of 10 American Switchblade 600 drones should arrive in Ukraine within a few weeks.
Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov states, Politico reports.
He noted that Ukraine demonstrated it can create its own weapons by sinking Russian cruiser "Moskva" in April with a Neptune missile of its own production. But Ukrainian resources are not enough.
"We are still waiting for Switchblade 600 drones that the US promised to help Kyiv with. They can hover over the target before the operator strikes. Drone manufacturer AeroVironment said the first batch of 10 drones should arrive this month", Reznikov said.
He also emphasized that air defense will continue to be "number one priority" for Ukraine in the coming months.
Switchblade 600 drone is designed to fly at a distance of up to 80 km, can attack with an impact speed of up to 185 km/h. The drone carries an anti-tank warhead designed to destroy or disable armored vehicles.
