On Thursday, February 2, the EU Council has allocated the 7th aid package to Ukraine amounting to EUR 500 million and an additional EUR 45 million for a military assistance mission
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba made the announcement on Twitter.
"Today, the Council of the EU has allocated the seventh package of €500 million through the EPF and an additional €45 million to the EU military assistance mission. I am thankful for the EU’s vital security assistance which brings us closer to defeating the Russian aggressor," Kuleba wrote.
In a statement, the EU Council said that with today's decision it is " stepping up its support to Ukraine to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, and protect the civilian population against the ongoing Russian war of aggression."
With the 7th aid package, the EU's total contribution under the EPF will amount to EUR 3.6 billion.
In turn, an additional EUR 45 million was provided for the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). The main purpose of this assistance is to provide the necessary non-lethal equipment and materials, as well as services to support the training activities of the Ukrainian military.
