Erdogan has leverage to push Putin to fulfill agreements - Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey
Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar has said that the dialogue between the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin helps the countries resolve important issues.
Bodnar stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"The Turkey-Russia dialogue contributes to the resolution of certain issues, such as the grain issue, mediation services, and so on. It can be said that in a certain way Erdogan influences Putin and has the leverage say not to force, but to stimulate him to fulfill certain agreements," said Bodnar.
He added that Erdogan, as a mediator in the negotiations with Putin, managed to achieve results that no other European leader achieved.
"If you look at all these mediation services, none of the European leaders have achieved what Erdoğan has achieved. Therefore, those mediation efforts and negotiations in specific directions, and grain, and maybe some other attempts to find common ground are also thanks to active Turkish diplomacy. It is noted not only in Turkey, but also in many European capitals. And, of course, it is to our advantage, because we realize our interest in securing our external economic and political interests," Bodnar is convinced.
