Energoatom takes one power unit out of operation, 8 units will operate in Ukraine
National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom reported that from January 3, one of the power units will undergo a scheduled overhaul, which takes place once every four years
Energoatom writes about this on telegram.
It is noted that the repair is carried out to ensure nuclear and radiation safety.
"During the overhaul, the reactor core is completely unloaded, the integrity of the reactor vessel is monitored by an automatic manipulator, preventive repairs of equipment, spent fuel is removed and fresh nuclear fuel is loaded," Energoatom explains.
During the repair, eight nuclear power units located in the government-controlled territory will operate in the Ukrainian power system.
Energoatom reminds that all 6 power units of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP are shut down, and their inclusion is blocked by the Russian invaders. Currently, ZNPP continues to constantly consume electricity for its own needs from the Ukrainian power system.
Earlier, Energoatom reported that all nuclear units on the territory controlled by Ukraine are operating at full capacity, despite the massive Russian missile attack on December 29.
