Crisis of leadership in the world is first and foremost crisis of responsibility
Do not rely on mirages and do not look for support where there is no responsibility. In empty words, empty actions, and empty people
The crisis of leadership that we are witnessing globally and locally is primarily a crisis of responsibility.
Responsibility for every word spoken, or vice versa - for silence when it was necessary to speak.
Responsibility for every action taken or not taken when it was necessary.
Responsibility for every person who entrusted you with their life and safety, their future, their hopes and expectations.
What is responsibility? I have my own reading of this term.
“Responsibility is a rational position. It is a clear understanding of three things: the systemic picture of what is happening, one's role in the system, and the willingness and ability to fulfil this role.”
Responsibility is a rational position.
It is a clear understanding of three things:
1. The systemic picture of what is happening. Systemic means understanding the cause-and-effect relationships, levers and points of effort.
What is really happening? What is interconnected and how? What are the connections, causes and consequences of external factors and my actions?
2. Role in the system.
Who am I, how and why am I here? What do I have to do and what can I do?
3. Readiness and ability to fulfil this role.
Am I ready for my role? Am I able to be the person who is needed?
Every time you hear or say the phrase "I am responsible for this," mentally go through this checklist and make sure that the word "responsibility" is not an empty word.
It will also help you not to hope for mirages and not to look for support where there is none. In empty words, empty actions, and empty people.
There is too much emptiness in this world. It's enough.
