Russia hopes to breach Ukrainian defense lines in Kramatorsk sector — Ukraine's General Staff

Over the past day, a total of 110 combat engagements took place on the frontline in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Ukrainian Defense Forces control the situation, although Russian troops are trying to break through Ukraine's defense in several areas

Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that as of 10:30 a.m. on May 19, the AFU kept focusing on defending the occupied borders and preventing the Russian invaders from advancing.

The Russian enemy did not conduct any active operations in the Kharkiv sector. The defense forces are doing their best to strengthen positions, replenish reserves, perform reconnaissance and keep the enemy's actions under fire control. In particular, over the past day, Russian troops lost four servicemen and 14 pieces of military equipment. A tank, an artillery system and three vehicles were destroyed, two tanks, five artillery systems and two vehicles were damaged.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian troops are repelling an attack in the direction of Berestove. The situation is under control. Ukrainian defenders are trying to strengthen the positions of the front line of defense, taking the initiative to improve the tactical situation whenever possible.

In the Siverskyi sector, the Russian troops intensified their attempts to find weaknesses in our combat order. Since the beginning of the day, there have been 15 attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces, 11 of which are ongoing. The Russian army is trying to break through in the direction of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk region, but has not been successful. Our troops have already destroyed two tanks and two armored personnel carriers and damaged one enemy armored personnel carrier.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops seven times over the past day. Our defenders repelled three attacks. Fighting continues in the vicinity of Klishchiivka, Kalynivka, Novyi and Andriivka. No positions were lost. The situation is under control.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian occupants attacked Ukrainian troops' positions 10 times since the beginning of the day. Ukrainian defense forces repelled two attacks. Fighting continues in the areas of Yevhenivka, Sieverne, Novoselivka Persha and Umanske. The situation is under control. Russia lost 68 servicemen and seven pieces of military equipment, including an armored combat vehicle and three vehicles.

In the Kurakhove sector, Ukrainian troops repelled one enemy attack in the Slavne-Paraskoviivka are, but in vain.

In the Vremivka sector, Russia made two unsuccessful attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Urozhaine and Staromayorske in the Donetsk region. The situation is under control.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, the Defense Forces repelled one enemy attack in the direction of Krynky. In the course of the fighting, the enemy did not succeed, and no losses of positions were incurred.

Russia's losses and strikes on Ukraine

During the day, Russia launched three missile attacks, 59 airstrikes using 95 guided bombs, and 58 Shahed and Lancet attack drones. The invaders fired 4,164 times at Ukrainian troops' positions and settlements from artillery systems, 73 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.

Since the beginning of the day, 39 combat engagements have already taken place. Russian invaders fired 541 times at the positions of our troops. They also used 37 kamikaze attack drones.

At the same time, over the past day, the Air Force, missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces hit 21 areas of personnel concentration, one radar station and two enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
