Countries of strategic South want to see China succeed in stopping war in Ukraine – international expert Osypenko
Diplomat and international expert Ruslan Osypenko believes that China may allow Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"China's main task is to prevent the Putin regime from losing completely. This is because this regime is pro-Chinese and enables China to confront the United States. If Russia loses in Ukraine and the government is reformatted into a democratic one, China will have a hostile country on its vast borders. China will maneuver. Xi Jinping may allow Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine. He wants Russia to recognize that it started the war by mistake, but he wants Russia to not change from a pro-Chinese regime to a pro-American one," Osypenko emphasized.
According to the international expert, Xi Jinping will be looking for a proposal for Ukraine that will meet Chinese interests.
"China needs to maintain its reputation of being equidistant from Moscow and Kyiv, of being a mediator. Especially in the face of the countries of the global South, which look to China's efficiency. China has managed to reconcile Iran and Saudi Arabia, pushing the United States out of the region and guaranteeing a system of collective security in the Middle East. Countries in the strategic South want to see China succeed in stopping the war in Ukraine. Then China's credibility will be further strengthened in the world," noted Osypenko.
