Political expert warns that pro-Russian parties could emerge in Ukraine after war
Oleksiy Koshel, head of Ukraine’s Committee of Voters, believes that new initiatives launched by pro-Russian parties may surface in Ukraine during the upcoming elections
He shared this opinion on Espreso TV.
"While discussing upcoming elections during wartime may seem unusual, it's an important topic. There are significant risks that parties like the Opposition Platform – For Life, the Opposition Bloc, and other versions of pro-Russian parties will re-emerge in Ukrainian politics under different names. Few of us could have imagined during the Revolution of Dignity and the early stages of the war with Russia that pro-Russian parties would regain influence in parliament and affect state policies. Yet, this has become a reality," Koshel explained.
According to the political expert, new pro-Russian projects may emerge in Ukraine.
"I don't believe we'll see pro-Russian parties in the traditional sense in the coming decades. However, we'll witness new pro-Russian initiatives. There will be Eurosceptics who will mock any Euro-Atlantic integration efforts. These parties could succeed, as the experience of our European allies shows," he added.
- Marine Le Pen, figurehead of the French far-right National Rally (RN) party, stated that if her political force wins the election, France will not allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike Russia.
