China suffers immense losses due to war – diplomat Bezsmertny
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus (2010-2011), diplomat Roman Bezsmertny, believes that Putin will not allow China to seize influence in Central Asia
He stated this on Espreso.
“China, while being a country with remarkable achievements, also faces significant challenges. Given its current geopolitical position, China is naturally inclined to pursue an active role. However, it is important to recognize that China is not without its own difficulties. The country has suffered immense losses as a result of war. As a consequence, China seeks to invest substantial amounts of money to exert greater influence in Central Asian countries, enticing them to adopt the Chinese model of foreign policy and economic activity. This approach raises concerns about a new form of colonialism, where China exerts total control over the resources of these nations through financial and banking means,” as emphasized by Bezsmertny.
The diplomat highlights that Central Asia is a complex region where Putin is unlikely to easily relinquish his influence.
“Moscow currently maintains control over the financial and banking resources of most Central Asian countries. Through its dominance in the energy, agricultural, and industrial sectors, Russia influences the development and future prospects of Kazakhstan. The economic ties between Kazakhstan and Moscow are deeply entrenched. However, the leaders of Central Asian countries have also become aware that they serve as a gateway for the Kremlin to bypass international sanctions. They have been cautioned by the United States and have begun to block these corridors in a rotating manner. Nevertheless, it is doubtful that China will swiftly seize the initiative in this region”, according to Bezsmertny.
