China and Russia will be key topics of G7 summit – Bloomberg
During the meeting of the G7 in Hiroshima, Japan, the leaders will discuss the limitation of loopholes for circumventing sanctions against Russia and the struggle for influence with China
Bloomberg reports about it.
The Group of Seven faces collective challenges and economic trials as Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his war against Ukraine and post-pandemic China actively expands its economic and strategic influence.
It is noted that this is one of the main things that the leaders of the "Great Seven" - USA, Japan, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and Canada - will focus on during the meeting in Hiroshima. In particular, one of the biggest challenges for the G7 is the involvement of countries outside the group, especially those in the so-called Global South - in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia.
In addition, the G7 leaders will join their counterparts from the European Union in Japan to find ways to eliminate loopholes to circumvent the sanctions that have been imposed against the Russian Federation. They will discuss the possibility of an almost complete ban on exports to Russia.
There should also be a demonstration of support for Ukraine, which is preparing for a counteroffensive.
Bloomberg points out that the leaders of the G7 are faced with the question of how to deal with China.
The problem is that, for all the talk of diversifying supply chains, supporting industry and creating self-sufficiency in the technology space, the G7 remains somewhat dependent on the world's second-largest economy.
