Center for Countering Disinformation publishes new selection of Russian fakes

According to the CCD at the NSDC, on March 7, Russians pushed deceptive information in three ways.

Misinformation: Russian media reported that "Kyiv no longer has nothing to pay the West for the multibillion-dollar military aid. All large state-owned enterprises have been sold off, and now they’re selling forests. For the West, this is an acceptable payment for weapons, and for Ukrainian officials, it is an opportunity to line their pockets."

Manipulation: American political scientist S. Bennett stated: "The West often resorted to lies, betrayals and manipulations that were beneficial to the USA. All this led to a coup d'état in Ukraine and the genocide of the Russian population of Donbas. ... Western countries are interested in harming Russia, dividing it, and the situation in Ukraine is just a tool in their hands."

Manipulation: Pro-Russian media reported that "the morale of the Bakhmut defenders is very low. No one believes that Ukraine’s Armed Forces will hold the city. The soldiers do not understand why they should throw in new reserves if the city has political importance only, not strategic."
