Canadians crowdfund Bayraktar drone for the Ukrainian Armed Forces: plan to present the drone on Ukraine's Independence Day
Canadians have started collecting donations for the purchase of a Turkish Bayraktar attack drone for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
This is reported on the UhelpUkraine.org platform, where fundraising is ongoing.
"Our allies from around the world in Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland have raised millions of dollars through crowdfunding to secure and purchase the famous Bayraktar drone. It's time for Canadians to step up and do the same", the fundraiser, a non-profit organization of Ukrainian-Canadian volunteers UhelpUkraine, noted.
Volunteers aim to raise CAD 7 million (USD 5.4 million) to purchase the drone. The drone is planned to be handed over to the Ukrainian military by the Independence Day of Ukraine, August 24.
"With the help of the Ukrainian-Canadian community and all those who support Ukraine's fight against tyranny, we will be able to promote real physical changes and help our heroes return home. Every dollar counts for the liberation of Ukraine", the volunteers write.
The total amount of donations already stands at CAD 12,450 (about USD 9,600).
UhelpUkraine, a non-profit organization of Ukrainian-Canadian volunteers, collects donations in Canada and organizes the transportation of essential goods to Ukraine through Poland.
