British intelligence reveals where Russia is most intensively preparing for defense
The Russians built hundreds of kilometers of defensive structures in the temporarily occupied territories, and made the greatest efforts to strengthen the defense in the north of Crimea
The British Ministry of Defense writes about this on Twitter.
British intelligence draws attention to the fact that since the summer of 2022, Russia has built one of the largest systems of military defense structures that the world has seen in many decades. They are located not only near the current front line, but also deeply entrenched in the temporarily occupied territories.
The images show that Russia is making a special effort to fortify the northern administrative border of Crimea with a multi-layered defensive strip near the village of Medvedivka in Dzhankoy district. Russia also dug hundreds of kilometers of trenches on its territory, in particular, in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
"The defences highlight Russian leaders’ deep concern that Ukraine could achieve a major breakthrough. However, some works have likely been ordered by local commanders and civil leaders in attempts to promote the official narrative that Russia is ‘threatened’ by Ukraine and NATO," they concluded.

In December 2022, British intelligence claimed that the Russians were building defenses and digging trenches on their territory to create the illusion of a threat to their population.
