Belarus may attack Poland or Baltic countries instead of Ukraine - Hetman
Oleksiy Hetman, a military analyst and veteran of the Russia-Ukraine war, says that Belarus may launch a false-flag attack against a NATO member country to test the reaction
He said this on Espreso TV.
“Those troops that are now on the side of Belarus near the Ukrainian border are not the forces capable of making an offensive. It is unlikely that they will attack at all, because, firstly, we have prepared for an attack, and, secondly, it is not a question of quantity, but of quality. They don't have the kind of training that would give them the opportunity to attack,” the military expert commented.
Oleksiy Hetman added that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about the high probability that Russia could involve other countries in Russia's war against the Alliance.
“Therefore, we can expect that Belarus will attack not Ukraine, but some other country, and it could be Poland or the Baltic countries in order to see how the Alliance fulfills Article 5 of its charter. That is, whether NATO will join the war, not in support, but specifically in the war against the Russian Federation or Belarus, if it strikes one of the Alliance members. Similar false-flag attacks are characteristic of the Russian Federation, so we can expect it. But it is impossible to expect any kind of attack by the equipment or personnel from Belarus, which are on the northern border of our country, at least on Kyiv. Also, the Institute for the Study of War assumed that this could be an attack on the Rivne or Volyn regions, that is, some kind of attack attempt by a sabotage and intelligence group. But there is also a warning that they will try to do some damage to a NATO member country to test the Alliance's reaction,” Hetman suggested.
