Almost 50 UN countries condemn Russia's attempts to justify war with 'neo-Nazism'
On July 11, 50 UN countries have issued a statement condemning Russia's cynical attempts to justify a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with fictitious narratives about 'neo-Nazism'.
Ukrinform informs about this.
"We condemn Russia for again abusing its seat on the UN Security Council to spread disinformation. We reject Russia's efforts to distort history for its own political purposes and promote extremely harmful false narratives and disinformation about neighboring countries, including by labeling others 'neo-fascists' and 'neo-Nazis' who do not have any basis," the joint statement said.
On Monday, July 11, the Russian Federation once again tried to spread disinformation and lies about Ukraine at a meeting it organized at the UN Security Council. The authors of the statement believe that the unofficial meeting that Russia organized for members of the Security Council is "another cynical and transparent attempt by Russia to justify its unprovoked, full-scale and illegal invasion of Ukraine."
As the countries claim, in this way the Russian Federation is trying to divert the world's attention from its violations of the UN Charter and norms of international law.
In addition, the countries emphasize that they will continue to condemn Nazism, neo-Nazism, anti-Semitism, anti-Roma racism and other forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance.
Among the states that signed the statement: Ukraine, EU countries, Australia, Canada, Croatia, Georgia, Japan, Moldova, Montenegro, Great Britain, USA.
