Ukraine’s forces engage in more than 50 battles in Bakhmut over last day

Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman for the eastern grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this on Espreso TV. 

“Bakhmut is the center of the fighting. The enemy has been conducting several dozen attacks in this area every day for many weeks. Over the past day, 57 combat engagements took place in the Bakhmut sector, and 23 in the city area. The enemy also made 188 artillery attacks, 20 of them directly at the city. 191 Russian troops were killed in action, 319 were wounded and 1 was taken prisoner,” he said.

Cherevatyi emphasized that Bakhmut is the main target for the enemy.

“In recent days, the Russians have been either trying to squeeze the ring to surround us or break through in the city itself. Our command sees these intentions, anticipates such actions and tries to make efforts to minimize the enemy's effectiveness,” the spokesman summarized.
