Norway to finance production of its artillery shells in Ukraine
Norway will finance the production of artillery shells developed by the Norwegian company Nammo in Ukraine
This is stated on the website of the Norwegian government.
Nammo has entered into an agreement that allows the Ukrainian defense company to establish the production of 155-mm artillery shells using its technologies.
“Norway is currently contributing by providing ammunition from its stockpiles and directly from industry. Now Nammo wants to share its experience with Ukraine. This means that Ukrainian troops will be able to receive ammunition faster,” said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
The Norwegian government has allocated funds to transfer Nammo's technology and experience to Ukraine. The funding will be provided under the Nansen program.
“A lot of effort has gone into developing and certifying effective ammunition suitable for mass production, and Nammo has invested time and money in technology and expertise that can now be transferred to Ukraine,” said Nammo CEO Morten Brandtzaeg.
