Ukraine has met most of EU's membership requirements - MP Ionova
Ukrainian lawmaker Maria Ionova said that Ukraine has fulfilled most of its commitments to join the European Union
She said this on Espreso TV.
"We had a unique association agreement with the EU. No other country had such an extended agreement. Today, Ukraine has fulfilled a very large part of its membership obligations to the EU. We also have positive aspects. Ukraine has economic interests, where we also have to agree on certain quotas with all countries. However, when it comes to EU membership rules, Ukraine will not be unique. There are directives and standards for a country's accession to the EU, and we have to comply with them. Therefore, we should not expect any concessions on our membership from the EU," said Ionova.
According to her, the positions of each of the EU member states will be important in Ukraine's accession to the EU.
"As for the trade and economic part, the position of our negotiators will be very important. In one group or another, we will understand what arguments the countries have for our cooperation. In particular, the interests of these countries and ours, and then communication will be built on the basis of these negotiations," she added.
