44 combat clashes take place on frontline, Ukrainian air defense destroys Russian Kh-59 missile — General Staff

On November 5, 44 combat clashes took place on the frontline. Ukrainian Defense Forces are carrying out an offensive in Melitopol and Bakhmut directions

Russian attacks on Ukraine

In total, Russia launched 2 missile and 34 air strikes, and 36 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Russian occupying forces also struck Ukraine with 1 Kh-59 and 1 Kh-31P guided missile. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed the Kh-59 missile. An infrastructure facility, private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged. Unfortunately, there are wounded among the civilian population.

Frontline update

Within the last day, 44 combat clashes took place. The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces maintain a grouping of troops covering the state border, conducting active sabotage activities in the border areas to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region. About 15 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Kupyansk direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful assault operations with the support of aviation near Synkivka, Ivanivka, and northeast of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 5 attacks there. Russian troops also launched an air strike near Nadiya, Luhansk region. Six settlements in the Kharkiv region came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Lyman direction, Russian troops conducted air strikes near 4 settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Also, about 10 settlements suffered from Russian artillery and mortar attacks.

In Bakhmut direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully tried 4 times to regain the lost position near Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk region. They conducted unsuccessful assault operations near Bohdanivka, Khromove and Pivdenne, Donetsk region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 more attacks. About 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Avdiivka direction, Russian troops, supported by aviation, conducted unsuccessful assault operations near the settlements of Avdiivka, Sieverne, Pervomayske, Donetsk region. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 6 attacks. Russian troops also carried out air strikes near 3 towns in the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Marinka direction, Russian troops, with the support of aviation, conducted unsuccessful assault operations near Marinka, Donetsk region, where the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 attacks. Russian troops conducted an air strike near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. About 10 settlements in the Donetsk region came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched an air strike near Staromayorske, Donetsk region. About 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful assault operations near 4 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In Kherson direction, Russian troops conducted air strikes near 3 settlements in the Kherson region. The cities of Kherson, Kherson region, and Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region, also came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukrainian Armed Forces continue offensive operation

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol direction, offensive (assault) operations in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupying forces, and depleting them along the entire front line.

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 10 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment. Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed 4 Russian reconnaissance UAVs. Ukrainian missile troops destroyed 3 Russian artillery units and 4 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment.
