14 years ago, Russia went to war against Georgia: Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry demands de-occupation of territories
August 7 marks 14 years since the start of Russian armed aggression against Georgia.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled this Russian armed aggression.
"After almost a decade and a half, Russia continues its aggressive policy against Georgia, keeping Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region / South Ossetia under occupation, grossly violating human rights in these Georgian territories. Ukraine firmly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders," wrote the department.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added that, not having received a proper response from the international community to the aggression against Georgia, in 2014 Russia continued its aggressive actions in Ukraine - occupied Crimea and part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and on February 24, 2022, launched a full-scale war against Ukraine.
"We are convinced that it is possible to stop the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation thanks to the joint efforts of the international community, clear compliance with the sanctions regimes against Russia and comprehensive support of the countries against which Moscow carries out aggression. Russia must de-occupy parts of the territories of Georgia and Ukraine, and Russian war criminals must bear the strictest responsibility," added our diplomats.
