West doesn't perceive modern Russia as analogous to Nazis - dissident Zissels
Dissident and human rights activist Joseph Zissels believes the West does not view Russia as an analogue of the Nazis
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“A very conservative perception is inherent not only in the West, they formed their vision of the world long ago, and the expert community, politicians, and many people have certain ideas about the present. The idea that Russia is analogous to the Nazis is very poorly perceived. I remember this from the year 14, discussions with German historians, German journalists, and they didn't even want to hear about it. I think that many German historians still don't want to hear about it,” he said.
At the same time, Josef Zissels emphasized that for Ukrainians, communism and Nazism are equal phenomena.
“For us, communism and Nazism are equal phenomena. Because we lived through both, that is, the Ukrainian people who lived here, including Jews and others, all lived through both regimes. And the German people, like the rest of Western Europe, survived only Nazism, and they see Russia as a trade partner because it is very beneficial to them, and what is beneficial to pragmatic Europe, the United States, Canada is not easy to change, you have to hit this rock, this is my belief,” the dissident said.
