Nearly 200 Russian drone, missile strikes target Kyiv in 2024
In 2024, Kyiv experienced 500 air raid alerts as Russian forces carried out nearly 200 airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital

Serhii Popko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported the information.
Over the year, Russian troops used more than 1,600 weapons against Kyiv, including:
- Over 1,300 drones;
- More than 200 cruise missiles (Kh-101, Kh-59, Kh-69, Iskander-K, Kalibr);
- 24 ballistic missiles (Iskander-M, KN-23);
- 22 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 7 hypersonic Zircon missiles.
The largest attack on Kyiv was a combined strike in which 78 weapons were used at once - 49 Kh-101 missiles and 10 Kinzhal missiles.
In total, Kyiv endured 6 major and 14 combined airstrikes in 2024. Nearly 550 residential buildings were damaged, leaving almost 120 people homeless.
The Kyiv City Military Administration also reported that residents faced emergency or stabilization power outages for almost 100 days last year. On average, each resident of the capital experienced about 9 hours of power cuts per day.
- On the morning of December 20, the Russian army fired missiles at Ukraine. Debris fell in several districts of Kyiv, injuring at least 11 people.
