Ukraine boosts exports in 2024, with EU remaining key trading partner
In 2024, Ukraine's exports increased by at least 13.4% in monetary terms. As of December 26, the country exported 129.2 million tons of goods worth $41.043 billion, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy
Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko credited the improvement to the normalization of Ukraine's seaport operations.
"While Ukraine exported 54.8 million tons of products by sea in 2023, this year it has already reached 87.2 million tons," she said.
Transportation patterns have changed not just in volume, but in value as well. Although the weight of goods transported by road decreased, the total value of road exports rose to $14.5 billion.
The European Union remained Ukraine's largest trading partner in 2024, with goods exports totaling $24.5 billion - $1 billion more than in 2023. Key non-EU trading partners included China ($2.3 billion), Turkey ($2.1 billion), Egypt ($1.6 billion), India ($986 million), and Moldova ($935 million).
Sunflower oil was the top export, with sales exceeding $5 billion. The ministry also highlighted strong performances in metallurgical exports and raw materials.
