186 combat clashes occur on Russia-Ukraine front: Moscow ramps up attacks in Pokrovsk, Lyman

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff stated this in its report as of 08:00 a.m.

According to the updated information, yesterday Russian forces launched 7 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, in particular, dropped 9 guided bombs. In addition, they used nearly 2,400 ‘kamikaze’ drones and fired over 5,000 times, including 188 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

The Russian army carried out airstrikes in the areas of Rozlyv, Komar, and Serhiivka in the Donetsk region, and Zaporizke in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Yesterday, Ukraine's aviation, missile forces and artillery conducted nine strikes on the Russian manpower and weapons concentrations, as well as one strike on a Russian fuel and lubricants storage facility.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv sector, two Russian attacks occurred yesterday near Hatyshche and Vovchansk, both of which were repelled with no success for Russian troops.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russian forces attacked seven times. Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks near Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, and Lozova.

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops launched 27 attacks, attempting to advance near Hrekivka, Zelenyi Hai, Platonivka, Pershotravneve, Nadiya, Makiivka, Terny, Novoserhiivka, Yampilivka, Ivanivka, and Bilohorivka.

In the Siversk sector, Russian troops made one unsuccessful attempt to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Zolotarivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces attacked nine times near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces carried out six attacks near Shcherbynivka and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 43 attacks near Zelene Pole, Vozdvizhenka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Novyi Trud, Vovkove, Solone, Novoolenivka, Novovasylivka, Shevchenko, Kotlyne, and Novoyelyzavetivka.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 20 attacks. Russian troops focused their efforts near Ukrainka, Slovyanka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne.

In the Vremivka sector, Russian troops launched 20 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Kostiantynopilske, Yantarne, Uspenivka, Kostiantynopil, and Pryvilne, using bomber aviation for strikes in the area.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled two Russian attacks.

In the Orikhiv and Huliaipole sectors, Russia did not carry out any active actions.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian army is actively using artillery and aviation from Russia's territory near Ukrainian settlements and conducting reconnaissance activities.

The operation in the Kursk region is ongoing. Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled 46 attacks in this direction. Russian forces carried out 266 artillery strikes.

• On December 29, the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated 2,010 Russian soldiers. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 7 Russian tanks and 44 artillery systems.
