Ukraine rejects war freeze: President's Office slams Bild's claims
The German tabloid Bild published a report suggesting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might announce the freezing of the war during his U.S. visit. However, the President's Office dismissed this as fake news, affirming that Ukraine opposes any halt in hostilities
This was confirmed by Dmytro Lytvyn, a communications advisor to the Ukrainian president.
"Bild is spreading lies. They haven't seen our Victory Plan. Out of the few people working on it, no one has spoken to Bild. There will be no Minsk-3 or anything like it for Russia. Ukraine is against any sort of cold war, and the government has made that clear on all fronts," Lytvyn emphasized.
According to Pletenchuk, it is crucial that the U.S. supports Ukraine's Victory Plan, rather than any form of capitulation or ceasefire.
Lytvyn also stated that the Victory Plan will first be presented to the United States because they're the ones with the power to ensure its success.
In its article, Bild claimed Zelenskyy will visit the U.S. in the coming weeks to present his strategy to President Joe Biden, along with presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
According to Bild, this strategy includes requesting permission to use Western weapons to strike deep into Russia, while also being open to local ceasefires in certain front-line areas — essentially freezing the conflict temporarily.
- Journalist and soldier Mykola Saveliev believes that only a change in Russia's government, the demilitarization of the country, and a fully armed Ukraine can truly end the war.
- Meanwhile, the leader of the Social Democratic Party's parliamentary faction in Germany has proposed setting up a contact group to initiate negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
