Turkey can perform key role in stabilizing situation in Gaza — expert on Middle East Semyvolos
Ihor Semyvolos, Center for Middle East Studies Director, believes that, in addition to political, military and humanitarian aspects, Turkey can play an important role in stabilizing the situation in the Gaza Strip
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"Turkey can play a significant role, given that other Arab countries are not ready for this and have refused to participate in a possible multinational force that could be deployed in the Gaza Strip," Semyvolos said.
According to Semyvolos, someone must at least provide security in the Gaza Strip after Hamas somehow disappears from Gaza. One of the options offered by the Turks is a Turkish military contingent.
"The Turks offer Turkish military participation to ensure security in the Gaza Strip. I don't think Israel will go for it, but the Americans need to give Erdogan something. Because this topic is too "overheated" in Turkey and without any obvious political success, Erdogan will resist. And there is still Sweden's accession to NATO, a vote in parliament, and much more to come," he added.

- January 5, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant outlined proposals for the future governance of Gaza after the war with Hamas ends, saying that Palestinian rule in the territory will be limited.
