Trump's Ukraine remark in debate not driven by friendship - politician
Donald Trump has won the debate between the future US presidential candidates on the surface. Although, in fact, Joe Biden said much more important things
Oleh Rybachuk, a politician and public figure, expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"Trump mentioned Ukraine not because he is our friend. He feels that it is important to his voters. When he completely torpedoed the vote on financial aid to Ukraine, it's clear he was told: "Look, the voters don't like this." Then Trump supported the package, and Johnson's rhetoric changed as well. That's why a clear position on Putin is very important to the rank-and-file or ordinary voters of the Republican Party," he said.
Trump likes to compare himself to Biden. But he did not do two important things at the debate, Rybachuk said.
"Trump loves this comparison story. Like, I'm the best president, Biden is worse, I'm strong, Biden is weak. That's why he compared the terrible withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan and repeated the phrase: " If I had been, there would have been no war..." But he did not do two things. Trump has not explained to Ukrainians how he is going to end the war. He also did not answer the question of whether he would recognize the result of the election if he loses it. This is paradoxical," the politician said.
- According to a CNN poll, after the debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, 5% of viewers changed their minds about who to vote for. Trump was named the winner of the debate by 67% of viewers, and Biden by 33%.
