Russia highly interested in splitting EU and NATO — Swedish Defense Minister
Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson believes that Russia is interested in splitting the EU and NATO, and Russian leader Vladimir Putin may realize that he is losing the war against Ukraine
N-TV quoted his words.
"I think that the Kremlin and Putin themselves realize that they are losing this war. But I believe that Russia is very interested in dividing us politically, both in the EU and in NATO," the Swedish minister said.
In his opinion, Russia's attack on NATO territory is not inevitable, and Moscow is ready to take great political and military risks.
Jonson also noted that to preserve peace, it is best to make NATO stronger and focus on deterrence and defense. The Swedish Defense Minister emphasized that to ensure the security of Europe, more investment in the armed forces is needed above all.
