US to grant Ukraine $100 million military aid package - Lloyd Austin
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin says Ukraine will receive a $100 million military aid package, including artillery ammunition and missiles for air defense systems
He made this statement during a briefing following a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
"Today, I am more impressed than ever with the results of the contact group meeting on Ukraine's defense. More than 50 countries are helping Ukraine fight against Russia. At the meeting, we discussed the situation on the battlefield and received updates on the current state of affairs from the Ukrainian Minister of Defense and the Ukrainian delegation.
Russia continues to put pressure on the Kharkiv region, and Ukraine is holding back the Russian troops,” Austin said.
He announced that Ukraine will receive an additional $100 million package of military assistance.
"After the $61 billion agreement was signed, aid has been steadily flowing to Ukraine. Last week, President Joe Biden announced a new security package worth over $100 million. Additionally, during this meeting, we discussed another military assistance package for Ukraine, also worth over $100 million. This package will include artillery ammunition and missiles for air defense systems - everything needed to ensure that Ukraine continues to have the capability to stop Putin,” he added.
