Why Ukraine will join EU eventually

Alright, time for some straight talk, a reality check, if you will. Ukraine is heading towards both the EU and NATO – it really is – but just like in real life, it's a bit like when you finally get what you wished for as a youth, only to realize it might not be exactly what you wanted

We'll likely get the nod very quickly, pushing aside Orban and the like who might try to throw themselves in our way for the simple reason that frightened European leaders perfectly understand: if things go south in the US elections and the US pulls back its security umbrella in Europe, then in the middle of the EU – surprise, surprise! – a giant, defenseless black hole of Germany without its own army will be revealed— déjà vu to 1945. The entire EU might crumble like a children’s house of cards at the first blow.

So, who's the ready and willing force to fend off any revanchist threats from the East? You guessed it—the battle-hardened Ukrainian army with a decade of experience! To make this work, our army needs to be part of the EU, along with our country. That's the whole unfiltered truth.

Sure, we might have pictured our European future differently. But it is what it is… The sooner we wrap our heads around this reality, the better shot we have at facing this future well-prepared. Maybe then, as a nation, we can turn things to our advantage instead of just shedding blood for others' parties. Remember Hetman Mazepa's words, "Only the saber will give us rights"? It might take on a whole new meaning for us.

So, let's stay on our best behavior because there's a hell of a lot of work ahead of us.
