We need sovereign Ukraine so that Russia never threatens Europe - Orbán
Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán says that Europe must do everything to ensure that Ukraine remains a sovereign state, so that Russia cannot threaten European states in the future.
This was reported by the 24.hu publication with a call to Orbán's speech at the congress of the International Union of Christian Democrats (CDI), where he is a vice president.
It became known that assessing the political situation in Europe, the Hungarian Prime Minister noted that today the European continent is facing several serious challenges at the same time: the war in Ukraine, the economic crisis, illegal migration, and “the spread of Western neo-Marxist ideology.”
“Europe is united in its goals, and the main thing is that Russia does not pose a threat to the security of Europe. And for this we need a sovereign Ukraine,” Orbán said.
In addition, he also pointed to the differences in the vision of various European states regarding the instruments for restoring peace in Europe, especially regarding the introduction of sanctions, noting that here "opinions diverge" and the debate with Hungary regarding sanctions “will continue.”
Orbán said that the urgent need now is to avoid a recession and he is convinced that the economies of Central Europe will succeed, but “the increase in energy prices due to the war and Brussels sanctions will make it very difficult.”
