War threatens global security: NATO announces increased support for Ukraine
On the one-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, NATO issued a statement of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and increased support for Ukraine
This is stated in a statement on the Alliance's website.
NATO expressed regret over the numerous deaths and destruction, including in residential areas of Ukraine, civilian and energy infrastructure, caused by Russia's illegal war.
"Russia bears full responsibility for this war, a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter," the Alliance said.
They also condemned the actions of the Belarusian leadership, which facilitates Russian aggression in Ukraine.
"We are further stepping up political and practical support to Ukraine as it defends itself against Russia’s invasion, and will maintain our support for as long as necessary to help Ukraine prevail," NATO emphasized.
They emphasized that the war unleashed by Russia threatens global security.
"Russia’s energy blackmail, its impact on global food supplies, its malign hybrid activities, its worldwide disinformation campaign, and its irresponsible nuclear rhetoric demonstrate clearly Russia’s disregard for international norms and the welfare of billions of people around the world," NATO said.
