Russian troops retreated 2 km near Bakhmut
Ukraine's Defense Forces forced Russian troops to retreat to a distance of up to 2 kilometers in the Bakhmut sector. This was reported by the Commander of the AFU Land Forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi on Telegram.
“Thanks to the well-thought-out defense in the Bakhmut sector, we are getting results of effective actions of our units. In particular, we are launching effective counterattacks. In some areas of the frontline, the enemy was unable to withstand the onslaught of Ukrainian defenders and retreated to a distance of up to 2 kilometers,” Syrskyi said.
According to the Land Forces Commander, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding the front securely and preventing the enemy from advancing. The battle for Bakhmut continues.
Switzerland has frozen the assets of the Russian central bank
The Federal Council has decided to freeze Russian finances. Almost USD 8.3 billion of the Central Bank of Russia's reserves and assets are held in Switzerland.
On March 29, the Council approved mandatory reporting of reserves and assets, an obligation that is also applied in the EU under sanctions against Russia. However, the relevant documents were not received by the April 12 deadline.
“The total amount of registered reserves and assets of the Russian central bank held in Switzerland is about 7.4 billion Swiss francs,” the statement said.
This amount of assets should be distinguished from the other amount of frozen funds and assets in Switzerland (USD 8.4 billion), the latter being those owned or controlled by sanctioned persons, companies or entities subject to the asset freeze.
“There are ongoing discussions in the EU on whether the assets of the Russian Central Bank should be invested and the proceeds used to rebuild Ukraine. Switzerland is closely following these discussions,” the Federal Council writes.

Czech Republic to hand over Kub air defense system to Ukraine
The Czech Republic will provide Ukraine with two Kub anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles for them.
This was reported by České Noviny with reference to Czech President Petr Pavel.
He noted that two Kub air defense systems with a relatively large number of missiles are currently being delivered, which Ukraine can immediately use because it has soldiers trained for this type of equipment.
Pavel added that Ukraine has already received about 100 tanks, the same amount of armored vehicles, and a lot of ammunition from the Czech Republic. Another crucial factor for Ukraine is to ensure that it has enough armored vehicles and ammunition.
Ukrainian artillery destroyed a Russian defense system and an electronic warfare station
According to the General Staff, the Defense Forces' aviation launched three strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions.
In addition, missile and artillery units hit one anti-aircraft missile system, two manpower concentration areas, one fuel and lubricant depot, and an enemy electronic warfare station.
