Vatican's 'peacekeeping mission' is impossible after Pope Francis' words about Russia's greatness - Ukraine's Presidential Office
Vatican mediation in the settlement of the military conflict in Ukraine is impossible after the Pope's words about the greatness of the Russian Empire
Advisor to the Head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podolyak said this in an interview with Channel 24.
"I liked the reaction of our Polish friends, the Wprost magazine. They published a specific cartoon," he said.
Podolyak reminded that Poland is one of the most Catholic countries in the world, so its reaction to Pope Francis' statement shows the attitude of the entire Catholic world to his words.

"The first is the completely unconscious, of course, but zeroing out the reputation of the Holy See. The second is the absolute nullification of any mediation mission that the Vatican could fulfill. There is no point in talking about a mediator called the Pope if he takes a pro-Russian position that is absolutely obvious to everyone," the advisor to the head of the President's Office emphasized.
The scandal with the Pope
Pope Francis called Russians "descendants of great culture and humanity" and "great Russia." Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has accused Pope Francis of promoting narratives about Russia's "greatness."
Later, the Vatican said that Pope Francis had never promoted imperialist ideas.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Apostolic Nuncio for a conversation about the Pope's statement.
