US announces aid for Ukraine's energy system on November 29
The United States plan to help restore the capacity of the Ukrainian power system damaged as a result of Russian strikes. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to announce assistance on Tuesday, November 29
This was stated by a senior State Department official on condition of anonymity, reports Reuters publication.
Blinken arrived in Romania on November 28 in the evening before meetings with NATO allies.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told some NATO diplomats that transformers are the biggest element of the country's energy infrastructure that needs to be restored.
According to the official representative of the United States, Washington worked with American suppliers of utilities and equipment, as well as with European countries, to find equipment that can help restore high-voltage transmission stations in Ukraine.
At a meeting of the new energy Coordination Group, which includes the group of seven and other states, Blinken will talk about what the states have managed to mobilize for energy, and plans to deliver this equipment to Ukraine "as quickly as possible in the next few weeks," US Secretary of State said.
At the same time, the US representative did not specify in what form the assistance will be provided and how much it will cost. In addition, Washington calls on other countries to do the same so that Kyiv can prevent power outages.
